HEARTWARMING TOUCHES AND MODERN CONVENIENCES

When you step inside Timberlake Care Center, you see touches
of home. Comfortable couches and wingback chairs decorate
the lounges. Pastel wallpaper, floral arrangements and rich
oak trim add warm touches. A breezeway leads to the Great
Hall with its vaulted ceiling, sky lights, chandeliers, lofty
windows, aviary of singing finches, and furniture arranged
in conversational groupings.
Three
social lounges with sunny windows provide a relaxed atmosphere
where residents and family can visit, watch movies and participate
in a variety of social activities. The soft sound of bubbling
aquariums echo throughout two of the lounges.
Step inside a resident's room and you'll see family photos,
heirloom furniture and treasured antiques. Rooms containing
personal furnishings help ease the transition to a new home.
Although Timberlake Care Center provides electric adjustable
beds, comfortable chairs, nightstands and a bedside cart,
residents enjoy decorating their rooms with family portraits
and personal items that reflect their individual interests.

RELAXING VIEWS AND INVITING COURTYARDS
"Did you see the momma deer with her two babies this morning?"
Marie asks as she greets Ann in the hall outside her room.
Timberlake Care Center is nestled among woods fffled with
deer, squirrels, birds and wildlife, and we have plenty of
windows to let nature inside. Our lounges, dining hall and
many residents' rooms overlook the woodland. Fall brings vibrant
hues of red, gold and purple. Springtime offers new blossoms
of tulips, daffodils and hyacinth.
An afternoon stroll in an enclosed courtyard lets residents
enjoy the warm sunshine as a waterfall cascades into a pond
filled with goldfish. Birdbaths and feeders entice cardinals,
blue jays and robins to enjoy a meal and share a song while
squirrels scurry up feeders filled with peanuts and sunflower
seeds.
Our beautifully landscaped courtyards are lighted for evening
use. Residents can sit on a park bench with a friend, read
a book, or close their eyes and listen to the sounds of nature
around them. Garden lovers can help plant flowers in our spacious
flowerbeds.
Many rooms feature wooded views so residents can enjoy nature's
splendor from their bedside or favorite chair. Our aviary
in the Great Hall brings the outdoors inside. This glass aviary
features colorful finches that cheer residents with their
love songs. Aquariums in two lounges offer soothing sounds
and colorful fish.

A CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
Step
inside the Great Hall and you'll hear bells ringing in harmony,
people praying together or children singing. Timberlake Care
Center offers a variety of social activities to entertain
and educate residents. Our activities director and her team
create a monthly schedule filled with a variety of opportunities.
Activities are designed to expand learning, sharpen motor
skills and nurture friendships. A sample of activities include
weekly bell choir led by a licensed music therapist, bingo,
musical entertainment and art classes. Travel videos and movies
are presented and reading material is available from our book
cart. Residents are encouraged to create a personal scrapbook
filled with snapshots from parties, activities and events.
As staff members and residents sing "Happy Birthday," smiles
spread across everyone's face and camera flashes light up
the room. Timberlake Care Center hosts monthly birthday parties.
Special
century parties recognize 100th birthdays.
Holidays bring special joy to Timberlake Care Center residents.
AU religious holidays, including Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter
and Kwanzaa, are celebrated. Preschoolers parade and trick-or-treat
in Halloween costumes. Residents decorate eggs for our Easter
egg hunt and earn prizes for discovering hidden eggs. At our
New Year's Eve party, we ring in the new year with hats, noisemakers
and snacks.
Catholic mass, Protestant and non-denominational services
are offered on site. Catholic residents appreciate our rosary
devotions each Tuesday. Non-denominational bible studies are
conducted weekly by area churches.
Timberlake Care Center publishes and distributes a monthly
newsletter to residents and family members. The newsletter
highlights social events, welcomes new residents and staff
members, and recognizes anniversaries.

A TABLE FOR TWO OR TWENTY
Mr.
Robinson and his wife enjoy private dining at a quiet table
for two. In the main dining hall, Harry tells friends about
the fishing trip he took with Bill. Viola, Irene and Susan
enjoy dinner in the lounge with a view of the courtyard waterfall.
Just as your family gathers around the dinner table, our
residents look forward to meeting friends for breakfast, lunch
and dinner. Residents can enjoy a quiet dinner with a special
friend or join a group to share laughter and family photos.
We offer dining in our main hall, west wing and lounges. Dining
facilities feature elegant yet homey surroundings - floral
wallpaper, a view of the woods and a smile served with every
meal.
The
dietary manager and his team work with a registered dietician
to provide healthy foods. A variety of menu choices are offered
for residents with diabetes, fluid restrictions, low-calorie
diets and assisted feeding needs. An abundant selection of
juices, coffee, tea, milk or water is available with every
meal. Menus change daily and include a variety of soups, fruits,
vegetables and meats.
Our staff loves to throw a party. Our Oktoberfest event features
homemade German sauerkraut, German chocolate cake, rosemary
potato salad, and apple upside down cake. We treat residents
to Kansas City-style barbecue, Italian wedding cookies, traditional
Thanksgiving meals, Christmas cookies and other special holiday
delights.
